Lauren Hong

I was raised in Kansas City, Mo., by my father, a journalist, and my mother, an artist. It’s no surprise my creativity and love for marketing were innately instilled in me. I went on to graduate from Drake University (Go Bulldogs!) with a degree in graphic design and advertising. I further explored my love for new challenges as a Fulbright Scholar in South Korea, before moving to  Washington, D.C. and Boston, where I worked at a boutique marketing agency. Eventually, I landed in San Diego. 

In 2013, I founded Out & About Communications. That was 10+ years ago, and the original vision remains — to build an agency that takes care of clients as if they were family and delivers work that wows. We found our niche exclusively working in the financial services industry and today we partner with wealth management, payroll, lending, banking, and outsourced financial consulting companies nationwide. We hire, train, and build our systems around those complex compliance and jargon-heavy worlds. Today, I’m delighted to share that our team has grown to 30+ strategists, managers, and implementers. 

Outside of my work, you can catch me with my husband and two daughters exploring San Diego or trying new restaurants. I also have a lot of fun getting lost in my garden pulling veggies or attempting to plant seeds.
